هل أشتري آيباد أم لاب توب؟!!

بدأت التكنولوجيا تسيطر علينا في بيوتنا ومكان عملنا في كل “وقت” خاصةً إذا نظرنا إلى هذا التطور التكنولوجي السريع والسريع جداً الذي نمر به في عصرنا الحالي.

وكما نعرف فإن مستخدمي هذه التكنولوجيا قد يواجهون العديد من الصعوبات في اختيار منتج أو جهاز معين بسبب هذا التطور السريع، والذي أصاب الزبائن على اختلاف مستوياتهم بصدمة تلو الصدمة.. فأصبحوا بحاجة إلى (دليل صادق) يرشدهم إلى الخيار السليم.

وها هو سؤال جديد يحوم في أفق العديد منا، ومن المؤكد أنه دار في بالك مراراً وتكراراً.. وهو: ماذا أشتري “آي باد” أو “لاب توب” أو “الاثنين معاً”؟!

سؤال من المؤكد أنك طرحته على نفسك، أو طرحه أحدهم عليك.. فمهما كانت إجابتك من المؤكد أنك واجهت بعض الصعوبة في الرد، أو قد تكون ترددت قليلاً قبل أن تجزم في الجواب.

ولكي تجد الإجابة الشافية لمثل هذا السؤال المحير، يجب في البداية أن تعرف إيجابيات وسلبيات كل جهاز على حدة، بالإضافة إلا معرفة إن كان الجهاز الذي ستختاره سوف يلبي احتياجاتك أم لا:

هل سيحل الـ “آي باد” محل الـ “لاب توب”؟

هذا ما سنحاول الإجابة عليه في هذا الموضوع، وذلك بعمل مقارنة بين الميزات والخصائص الرئيسية لكلٍ من اللاب توب وآي باد، وذلك لمعرفة من الأفضل في كل ميزة على حدة، وذكر السبب في إعطاء هذه الأفضلية.

1- الملحقات / Accessories

- آي باد:

• كيبورد خاص يعمل بتقنية البلوتوث

• وصلة خاصة بالتلفزيون

• ستاند/داعم خاص للمكاتب

- لاب توب:

• كيبورد يعمل بتقنية البلوتوث أو غيرها

• ماوس يعمل بتقنية البلوتوث أو غيرها

• العديد من الملحقات التي تناسب مختلف الأذواق

النتيجة: فوز اللاب توب

السبب: تنوع وكثرة الملحقات الخاصة به، واختلافها بحيث تناسب مختلف الأذواق، وذلك على عكس ما هو متوفر في آي باد، حيث أنها منحصرة بعدة ملحقات بسيطة.

2- نظام التشغيل / Operating System

النتيجة: تعادل اللاب توب مع آي باد

السبب: رغم تنوع أنظمة التشغيل واختلافها في اللاب توب، بحيث يمكنك اختيار ما يناسبك من بينها أو إختيار نظامين في جهاز واحد. إلا أن مجانية نظام التشغيل في آي باد تجعله ينافس اللاب توب، والذي تمتاز أسعار أنظمة التشغيل الخاصة به، بارتفاع أسعارها نوعاً ما.

3- الطباعة و معالجة النصوص / Word processing (iPad Office Suite)

- آي باد:

• صعوبة التعامل مع النصوص وما يتعلق بها

• صعوبة توصيله إلى الطابعة ومحدودية ذلك

• محدودية برامج أوفيس ووظائفها

- لاب توب:

• سهولة التعامل مع النصوص وما يتعلق بها

• سهولة توصيلة إلى أغلب الطابعات

• توفر برامج مايكروسوفت أوفيس بأنواع مختلفة لتلبية كافة الحاجات، بالإضافة إلى البرنامج المجاني وهو (أوبن أوفيس).

السبب: لسهولة التعامل مع برامج أوفيس المختلفة، وسهولة معالجة النصوص وتحريرها وطباعتها..

4- البريد الإلكتروني / Email

- آي باد:

• سهولة التعامل مع البريد الإلكتروني

• توفر خدمات الإشعارات والتي تنبهك بوصول بريد جديد

5- التقاويم وجهات الاتصال / Calendars & Contacts

• سهولة التعامل مع جهات الاتصال

• صعوبة التعامل مع التقاويم وبعض المشاكل فيها

- لاب توب:

• التعامل مع جهات الاتصال، أصعب بعض الشيء، وبحاجة إلى معرفة في برنامج (آوت لوك / Outlook)

• التقاويم أيضاً صعبة في التعامل، وبحاجة إلى معرفة في برنامج (آوت لوك / Outlook)

النتيجة: فوز آي باد

السبب: إن عملية إضافة جهة اتصال جديدة أو تعديل القديمة، تمتاز بالسهولة والبساطة.

6- أخذ الملاحظات في الاجتماعات / Taking Notes In Meetings

- آي باد:

• السهولة المطلقة في أخذ الملاحظات

• سرعة حفظها واسترجاعها والبحث عنها

- لاب توب:

• الصعوبة في عمل وأخذ الملاحظات، وذلك لحاجتك الماسة إلى معرفة التعالم مع مثل هذه البرامج المتخصصة في هذا المجال، أو معرفتك الجيدة في التعامل مع (أوفيس/Office)

• البطء نوعاً ما إذا تمت المقارنة مع آي باد.

النتيجة: فوز آي باد

السبب: تعد عملية أخذ الملاحظات من أهم الميزات التي جهزت أبل أجهزتها بها، بحيث تعتبر الأسهل والأسرع من أخذ الملاحظات في اللاب توب.

• لا يوجد آلة حاسبة

• يمكنك شراء أو تحميل آلة حاسة مميزة من متجر أبل

- لاب توب:

السبب: لا يحتاج تنصيب و تحميل برنامج معين، إلى معرفة وخبرة كبيرة مثل التي يجب أن تتوفر لديك إذا أردت تحميل وتنصيب برنامج لللاب توب.

11- تصفح الإنترنت والميديا / Browsing web and media

- آي باد:

• سهولة تصفح أغلب مواقع الإنترنت

• لا يمكن تصفح مواقع الإنترنت التي تعمل بتقنية الفلاش

• لا يمكن تحميل أو مشاهدة أو الإستماع إلى الميديا المختلفة من صوت وفيديو بشكل مباشر، حيث يتوجب عليك تنصيب برامج أخرى مساعدة لتقوم بهذا الدور.

• سهولة تصفح جميع مواقع الإنترنت وبكافة التقنيات المجودة.

• القدرة على عرض وتحميل والإستماع إلى الميديا المختلفة وبشكل مباشر، أي من الموقع الإلكتروني التي توجد به مباشرةً.

السبب: لا يوجد أي موقع إلكتروني أو ملف ميديا معين، يمكنه الوقوف في وجه اللاب توب، وذلك على العكس من آي باد، فمواقع الفلاش إحدى الصعوبات التي يوجهها الأخير.

12- التعامل مع الملفات والفولدرات / Dealing with Files/Folders

- آي باد:

• صعوبة التعامل مع الملفات والفولدرات

• بحاجة إلى برامج أخرى مساعدة لإتمام هذه العملية.

- لاب توب:

• سهولة التعامل مع المفات والفولدرات وترتيبها وتنظيمها

• لست بحاجة إلى برامج أخرى مساعدة.

النتيجة: فوز اللاب توب

السبب: إحدى أهم مشاكل جهاز آي باد، هي طريقته في تنظيم الملفات والفولدرات المختلفة، والتي تتطلب منك تحميل برامج أخرى لعمل مثل هذه الأمور، وذلك على العكس من اللاب توب الذي يمتاز بسهولة تعامله مع الملفات والفولدرات.

13- البرامج / Applications

- آي باد:

• غلبة وكثرة وتعدد البرامج الترفيهية على برامج الأعمال التي تساعدك في بيئة العمل.

النتيجة: تعادل اللاب توب مع آي باد

السبب: قد يساعدك آي باد، في طريقة التعامل مع البرامج وذلك لسهولة التعامل معها على العكس من اللاب توب، ولكن! لا يمكنك الاستغناء عن الأخير في عملك اليومي.

14- الألعاب / Games

- آي باد:

• مئات الآلاف من الألعاب والتطبيقات المختلفة، ذات الأسعار المعقولة.

• سهولة وبساطة التعامل مع الألعاب

• أغلب الألعاب صغيرة وقد تكون نسخ مبسطة من مثيلاتها في أجهزة الكمبيوتر.

- لاب توب:

• الكثير من الألعاب، ولكن أغلبها وخاصة الجديد منها أسعاره مرتفعة إذا ما قارناها في ألعاب آي باد.

• الصعوبة في تنصيب الألعاب على اللاب توب

النتيجة: تعادل اللاب توب مع آي باد

السبب: إذا كنت تحب الألعاب التي تمتاز بالواقعية وطول مراحلها، فاللاب توب هو الأنسب، أما إذا كنت تحب السهول والبساطة في الألعاب، فآي باد هو أنسب لك.

15- درجة الحرارة / Temperature

- آي باد:

• يمتاز بأن درجة حرارة منخفضة، حتى مع فترات العمل الطويلة

- لاب توب:

• إحدى مساوئه الرئيسية هي ارتفاع درجة حرارة الجهاز بسرعة

النتيجة: فوز آي باد

السبب: إذا كنت تملك لاب توب فستعلم أن شدة حرارته، هي أهم سبب من الأسباب التي قد تجعلك تستخدم آي باد.

16- السهولة في الاستخدام / Easy To Use

- آي باد:

• يمتاز بالسهولة في التعامل والاستخدام

• لا يحتاج إلى تجهيزات مختلفة للبدا في استخدامه

• زر واحد للتشغيل ونفس الزر للإغلاق

- لاب توب:

• يحتاج إلى معرفة وإلمام في التعامل مع الجهاز

• يحتاج إلى معرفة وإلمام في التعامل مع نظام التشغيل

• بحاجة إلى وقت للبدا في العمل

• بحاجة معرفة وإلمام بطريقة تحميل وتنصيب البرامج

النتيجة: فوز آي باد

السبب: سهولة وسرعة استخدام آي باد، وعدم اشتراط المعرفة المسبقة أو الإلمام بقواعد وأصول استخدامه، لأنه ببساطة مصمم لاستخدام كافة الفئات العمرية.

17- قطع الغيار والترقية / Spare Parts and Upgrade

- آي باد:

• لا يمكن الترقية

• عدم توفر قطع الغيار

- لاب توب:

• إمكانية الترقية

• توفر قطع الغيار وكثرتها

السبب: إذا حصل أي عطل في آي باد بعد إنتهاء فترة الضمان، فتصليح الجهاز سيكلفك ربما نصف ثمن جهاز جديد.. ولا يمكنك ترقية الجهاز كما في اللاب توب.

السبب: يمكنك توصيل كافة أنواع الذاكرة الخارجة والهارديسك إلى اللاب توب مما يتيح لك حرية كاملة في استخدام مثل هذه الأجهزة ، وهذا على العكس تماما مما عليه آي باد، وذلك للمحدودية الكبيرة في توصيل ذاكرة أو أجهزة خارجية عليه.

• أسهل في التشغيل والإقفال وتحميل البرامج

• أصعب للاستخدام في بيئة العمل

- لاب توب:

السبب: إذا أردت جهاز للإستمتاع أكثر، فجهاز آي باد هو مقصدك، أما إذا كان هدفك العمل في المرتبة الأولى، فاللاب توب هو المناسب لك.

20- اتصال محدود بالأجهزة الأخرى / Limited Hardware Connectivity

- آي باد:

• صعوبة ومحدودية توصيلة بأجهزة وملحقات أخرى مثل (طابعة، هاردديسك خارجي… وغيرها

- لاب توب:

• سهولة وتعدد توصيلة بأجهزة وملحقات خارجية

النتيجة: فوز اللاب توب

السبب: إذا كنت بحاجة لطباعة مقال معين، فيمكنك ببساطة توصيل اللاب توب على أي طابعة لتطبع هذا المقال، وإذا رغبت مثلا في عرض الفيديو الخاص بك، فيمكنك ببساطة توصيل الكاميرا باللاب توب… وغير ذلك الكثير. وهذا ما لا يمكن فعله مع آي باد ببساطة.

21- القابلية للتحرك أو الحمل / Portability

• يمتاز بالسهولة في الحمل والتحرك والاستخدام في أي مكان تقريباً

- لاب توب:

• سهل الحركة والحمل ولكن ليس مثل آي باد

النتيجة: فوز آي باد

السبب: ليس بحاجة إلى مكان خاص لوضعه فيه، إنما يمكنك استخدام آي باد في أي مكان وفي أي وقت وهو بين يديك، لخفة وزنه إذا ما قارناه في أغلب أجهزة اللاب توب الموجودة.

22- تخزين الملفات / Storing Files

- آي باد:

• صعوبة تخزين الملفات الخاصة بك

• بحاجة إلى برامج إضافية لهذه العملية

- لاب توب:

• سهولة تخزين أي ملفات تريدها على اللاب توب

• لست بحاجة إلى برامج إضافية إنما يمكن تخزينها على الهارديسك الخاص باللاب توب أو على ذاكرة خارجية.

السبب: تعتبر هذه العملية في تخزين الملفات على آي باد، إحدى السلبيات الرئيسية للجهاز، وهي عدم قدرته على تخزين الملفات الخاصة بك على الهارديسك الخاص بآي باد، وفي نفس الوقت لا يسمح لك الأخير باستخدام ذاكرة خارجية لإتمام مثل هذه العملية.

23- عمر البطارية / Battery Life

- آي باد:

• طول عمر البطارية مما ينعكس على طول فترة الاستخدام وطول فترة بقاءه على وضعية الاستعداد.

- لاب توب:

• قصر عمر البطارية، حيث لا تستمر في الغالب لأكثر من 3 ساعات عمل، مما يجعلك بحاجة دائمة إلى وضعه على الشاحن.

النتيجة: فوز آي باد

السبب: يمكنك أن تستخدم آي باد لعدة ساعات، قد تصل إلى 8 أو 12 ساعة، وذلك حسب الإستخدام، ويمكنك أيضاً إعادة شحنه بسرعة.

24- الشكل الخارجي / Outside Look

- آي باد:

• شكل أنيق ولكن موحد

• بحاجة إلى أغطية خارجية لحماية الشاشة

- لاب توب:

• أشكال وألوان مختلفة تناسب كافة الأذواق.

• لا يحتاج إلى غطاء خارجي لحماية الشاشة.

النتيجة: فوز اللاب توب

السبب: يناسب مختلف وجميع الأذواق، ولا يحتاج لمثل تلك الحماية الخاصة بآي باد، للمحافظة عليه وحمايته.

25- من يغنيك عن غيره / Which will serve you better

- آي باد:

• إذا اشتريت آي باد، فيجب أن يكون لديك جهاز كمبيوتر (لاب توب أو غيره)، لأن آي باد يعتمد بشكل أساسي على الكمبيوتر.

- لاب توب:

• إذا اشتريت لاب توب، فليس بالضرورة أن يكون لديك آي باد، لأنك تستطيع القيام بكافة الأعمال التي تريدها بدونه.

النتيجة: فوز اللاب توب

السبب: اللاب توب جهاز أساسي أما آي باد فهو جهاز ترفيهي.

النتيجة النهائية:

- “آي باد” حصل على : 8 من 25 صوتاً

- لاب توب حصل على : 12 من 25 صوتاً

- التعادل بين الجهازين: 5 من 25 صوتاً

الحكم النهائي:

إن كل ما تقدم هو عبارة عن مقارنة شخصية بحته، فلقد قمت بعمل هذه المقارنة بناءاً على تجربة شخصية، وتجارب شخصية أخرى للعديد من الأصدقاء والمستخدمين… والملاحظ هنا، أن أغلب مستخدمي أو ملاك أجهزة “آي باد”، هم نفسهم مستخدمي وملاك أجهزة “اللاب توب”، (على الأقل بالنسبة لأغلب من أخذت رأيهم في هذه المقارنة).

والمهم مما تقدم، هو توضيح ايجابيات وسلبيات كلا الجهازين، وهذا ما قمنا بعمله أعلاه، ولكن! الأهم.. هو أن يدرك كل من يرغب بشراء جهاز “آي باد” أو أي كمبيوتر لوحي آخر، هو أن هذا الجهاز الجديد، لا يمكن الاستفادة منه والاستمتاع به بشكل مطلق، إلا إذا توفر لديك “لاب توب” أو على الأقل جهاز كمبيوتر عادي.

Make Your Own Books From Wikipedia

It is just the Wikimedia Foundation’s attempt to make ‘human knowledge’ accessible to everyone…online and now also offline.


To capsulize the process, users can collate the article pages of their choice and create a book from this existing material through a simple link available in Wikipedia. The compilation of articles can be arranged into chapters, given a title and finally exported as a PDF or as an Open Document and even sent to be professionally printed (at a cost).
One essential caveat is that a user has to create an account and log-on to access the book features.
Step-by-step guide
This page shows you how to create a book from Wikipedia articles in four steps. Books can be created in PDF or OpenDocument formats, or ordered for printing on the PediaPress website.


Step 1: Enable the "Book creator" tool
The "Book creator" tool can be enabled from the "print/export" box on the left hand side of the browser screen towards the bottom. Click on "create book". The "Book creator" tool will appear at the top of your screen.

Step 2: Gather articles

Individual pages

By clicking on the "Add this page to your book" link, the current page being viewed is added to the collection. To add another article, simply go to that article, and click on "Add this page to your book" again.
Another way to add articles to your book is to hover your mouse over a link to another article. After one second, a message will pop-up, giving you the option to add the linked article to your book.

Categories

If you move to a category page, the "Add this page to your book" will have changed into "Add this category to your book". Clicking on "Add this category to your book" will add all the articles in that category.
Likewise, if you hover on a category link (located at the very bottom of articles), a message will pop-up, giving you the option to add the entire category to your book.
After you have selected the articles that interest you, you can click on "Suggest pages" and you will be presented with a list of articles that are related to your selection. This helps you to create a more complete book if you run out of ideas, or just want to make sure that you haven't forgotten anything.

Step 3: Review your book

Once you are happy with your book, click on "Show book" to be taken to the next step.
After you have clicked on the "Show book" link, you can add a title and a subtitle to your book.You can also arrange articles and order them according to your taste with clicks and drags (details in the Advanced Functions section below).

Step 4: Download or order a printed copy of your book

The finished book can be downloaded or ordered as a bound book. You can download the book, in PDF and OpenDocument format (viewable using OpenOffice.org software), by clicking the "Download" button . To order the book as a bound book click the "Order book from PediaPress" button.

So you’re a student in a college and you’ve picked up Twitter like everybody else in this social networking trend. However, Twitter is much different than Facebook or even LinkedIn. It’s more of a barbecue-type setting between professionals. Look, I didn’t believe it either, that was until I secured a very desirable internship in my field last summer because of Twitter. So how do you use Twitter to progress professionally? Simple, begin with these four basic steps, and expand accordingly.


1.) Start searching for and following twitter accounts that post internships and jobs. Both in your desired field, and general ones as well. Internship Queen has a ton of internships she posts, along with tips for finding ones.


2.) Search for and follow twitter accounts by respected members of that field, as well as companies, and business groups. For example, if you’re interested in PR work follow local PRSSA groups, follow PRSAJobCenter, follow people you know that are PR Gurus.


3.) Clean up your twitter, no more “Going to ____ bar tonight, PARTY!”. Make it professional. Start posting interesting articles that you find online, and ADD YOUR OWN INSIGHT TO THEM. Retweet interesting posts the professionals you follow, post or add your own insight to them. The main issue of importance here is to INTERACT on a PROFESSIONAL LEVEL with these people you now follow. Remember, these people are full of connections, and that is what Twitter is about! Try to make actual connections with these people.


4.) Keep your eye out for job and internship posts. And, don’t be afraid to ask a professional (through direct messages) for suggestions on how to get in touch with an industry/company you’re interested in. Most people want to help others, if you genuinely ask for help, someone will answer the call.


Hope this helps, there really isn’t much too it and it is that simple. It’s going to take time and effort, but it may be worth it in the long run. Remember, Twitter is an extension of yourself, and it can be used for professional benefit and to meet people while making connections that would otherwise be impossible

Don’t read EVERY tweet. It’s perfectly okay. You have permission.

Follow anyone who follows you (and unfollow spammers/jerks).

Promote other people 12x to every 1 self-promotional tweet.

Build lists to watch people who matter to you more closely.

Retweet the good stuff from others. Sharing is caring.

A lot of @replies shows a lot of humanity/engagement.

Robot tweets are less sexy than human tweets.

Promote the new/less followed more than the “names.”

Set an egg timer. Twitter is addictive.

Everyone does it their own way. You’re doing it wrong, too- to someone.

TECHNICAL

A non-standard background and face avatar means we believe you may be human.

Leave 20 characters or more space in each tweet to improve retweeting.

Use Seesmic or Tweetdeck or Hootsuite so you can see more.

Linking one update to several communities is technically possible. It’s just not respectful of each community’s uniqueness.

Tools like http://bit.ly let you see stats. Use them.

Make hashtags small and simple. We need room to tweet.

If software allows you to “post updates to Twitter” as well as to the app, don’t do that. We rarely want to see them.

If you develop software that pushes updates to Twitter, be VERY explicit how that works.

Every time you use OAUTH to give apps permission to use your account, you open a potential security hole. Check your permissions monthly.

The best mobile app is the one that you feel comfortable using. We don’t know better.

BUSINESS

Spamming us repeatedly is okay. We just unfollow you.

Spend more time in search than in chatting us up about your stuff.

Finding people who need what you’re selling trumps advertising to us.

Retweeting someone’s nice words about you is lame and doesn’t buy you more attention. Let it stand.

If your link is an affiliate link or a client, say so (in parentheses).

Your customers might not be on Twitter. Use rapleaf to find them.

Invite your customers to Twitter, then make it worth it for them.

Use Twitter as a personalized communication tool, not another blast.

Having different accounts for everything seems like the right move, until you realize it’s hard to grow multiple followings.

Just make money and then the boss won’t ask about ROI any more.

INTEGRATED USAGE

Twitter makes every event better. Post the hashtag everywhere. Make every speaker sign/label/name include a Twitter ID.

Apps like TweetChat.com make following event chats really easy. Put in a hashtag and go.

Tweeting the content of events is nice, but so is occasionally making a real live connection with the speaker.

It’s okay to tweet your blog posts, but try asking a question that leads readers into the post.

Can you invite Twitter followers to your other social platforms, like LinkedIn or Facebook? Sure you can.

I’m not into mixing my location apps with my tweets, but if you do, do it FROM the location app into Twitter, not the other way around.

Getting others to tweet your posts or news or registrations is useful, but sometimes comes off as a barrage or spam. Be prepared for that perception.

Tweets that point us to photos and/or video and/or music, etc, are always a great way to enhance the experience.

Please remove Twitter from LinkedIn. Use the #in tag instead and be selective.

Spammy or no, events that tweet their attendance registration seem to drive attendance.

OFF-TWITTER

Are your tweets really what you want to show in your sidebar? Doesn’t that direct people away from your site?

Think of Twitter as a guidance system to what you think is interesting. A lot of that is likely off-Twitter.

Apps like VisibleTweets.com are neat, but can be very distracting at events.

If you use tweets on a screen at an event, be warned if you moderate. Angry crowds can happen.

Don’t forget to invite people from off-Twitter to follow you on Twitter. Include your actual Twitter ID (I see lots of “follow me on Twitter” with no details).

Asking questions on Twitter makes for very interesting commentary and opinions for blog posts.

Tweetups are awesome, especially if you make them about more than just drinking and saying hi. (Though, hey, drinks can be nice.)

Outside of the Twitter app, keep “Tw” names to a minimum. We’re not your “tweeps.”

If your only marketing efforts are on Twitter, start building an email marketing list. Never put your eggs in one basket.

Start thinking in 120 characters (remember? save 20). Every bit of this advice is tweetable.

Your mileage may vary. Some of these might be really helpful and others might not be that useful at all, given your own situations. In fact, feel free to make your own version, add and subtract at will, and comment on where you disagree or agree. It’s all up for discussion.
